About our Ferretry

This is where our journey began...

From 2 to 5 to MANY!

We originally owned 2 jills who lived the ripe old age of 9 and 10. After they passed the rainbow bridge, we went and got two more girls and realised there was a severe lack in ethical, responsible ferret breeders in WA.

So we selected a suitable boy from a breeder down south, had 2 girls flown over from Victoria, and thus the story of Mae's Ferrets began!

We are active members of the WA Ferret & Ferreting Society (WAFFS) and work in collaboration with their core members, attending many of their yearly meetups and events.

Selective & Responsible Breeding

We only pick the best of the litter to continue the next generation. We test for temperament, genetic abnormalities, and recessive inheritance potential.

When outbreeding, we work with reputable breeders, even bringing in new blood from over east to benefit the limited gene pool of ferrets Western Australia has.

We DO NOT sell to pet stores and strongly discourage people purchasing ferrets from pet stores.

Scientifically-Accurate Information

All advice we provide has been backed by peer-reviewed studies from the National Institute of Health.

We are always looking for ways to broaden our horizons, provide even more accurate and beneficial information, and improve our own knowledge on ferret care.

We stay in touch with owners, inviting them to ferret events to see how they've grown over the years.

Communication, support, and collaboration benefits both owner and ferrets as a whole.
